What time is my race?
Closer to the event, we will share more information about the event, which will include race times, course, what to bring etc., to help you plan your day at Wairua Warrior 2025!

Is it possible to change race category? YES!
It is possible to change from the 5km to the 10km category prior to the 20 April. It doesn’t cost to change categories, however you will need to pay for the increase in registration fee including any card charges at the time of the change.

I'm competing with my team. How many people are we allowed?
Teams must have between 4-8 people inclusive - if there are 2-3 people register as individuals, you may still stay together throughout the race and have fun coming over the finish line first with that last sprint. Teams can be a mix of age and gender. Teams can only register under one race category, either the 5km or 10km.

My child is 9. Can they race by themselves?
Children under 10 must have ONE ADULT accompany them on the course in a supporting role; not competing or using the obstacles themselves. This adult can be registered as “Mini Race Adult” Free of charge.
Children over 10 have the option to have the supporting adult with them on the course.
Note: This is a supporting role only and adults are not competing.

My son wants to come with his mates from school. They're all 17. Which race can they enter?
Youth aged 14-17 can enter either the 5km or the 10km, either as an Open or as a Team. They can also enter Elites in the 3km, 5km and 10km
Anyone under 18 must have parent/guardian consent and must have a parent/guardian present on event registration.
Teams can be mixed, any age/gender, but the entire team must register for only one distance, either the 5km or 10km.

Can I get a refund?
All fees and associated costs (including donations), paid in registration for this Wairua Warrior event are not refundable for any reason under any circumstances, including but not limited to injury, a scheduling conflict, and/or event cancellation.
However, registrations can be transferred to another participant prior to the 25 April 2025. Please refer to the last section on this page for instructions to transfer your registration.

I can't race anymore. Can I withdraw?
If you can no longer race, for whatever reason, you can withdraw. As per our Refund Policy, registrations are non-refundable.
However, registrations can be transferred to another participant prior to the 25 April.

Is it possible to transfer my ticket to someone else?
Yes, it is possible to transfer your ticket to another person until the 20th of April. If an exception is essential contact the event organisers using the details at the bottom of the page.

Health & Safety Waiver
It is important that all participants are fit and well at the time of the event to participate. All participants must sign the Health and Safety Waiver on registering. Read the full Waiver here.
We will have First Aid and trained Medics on-site in the event of a medical emergency.
Please note that participants aged 14 to under 18 must obtain consent from their parent or guardian in order to participate in the event.

Code of Conduct
Wairua Warrior competitors are expected to follow the General Code of Conduct. This will be sent to you via email and you can read the full code of conduct here.
We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a positive and inclusive experience for all participants.

What happens in the event is delayed or cancelled due to an emergency?
Wairua Warrior will happen rain or shine, we will not postpone or cancel the event if rain is forecast.
The Wairua Warrior at its sole discretion may delay, modify, or cancel the Wairua Warrior event if conditions or natural or man-made emergencies make administering the event unreasonably difficult or unsafe. An "emergency" is defined to mean any event beyond the control of Wairua Warrior, including but not limited to high wind, extreme rain or hail, hurricane, earthquake, flood, or fire. In the event of a delay, modification, or cancellation of the Wairua Warrior event as described, participants will not be entitled to a refund of entry fees or any other costs incurred in connection with the Wairua Warrior event.

Is there onsite parking?
Parking is available onsite at the Nelson Obstacle Carpark for 240 cars. This parking is first in, first served basis and is $5 per vehicle. Carpooling is encouraged.
NOTE: There are a limited amount of accessible carparks located in this carpark and permits will need to be displayed.
Additional public parking within 5 minutes’ drive to the event with a shuttle service available, $2 gold coin per person.
Strictly no parking allowed along Moutere Highway Road at any stage due to road restrictions and safety.

Can we pre-book a carpark?
All transport can use the carpark. There is no pre-booking, so get there early. This parking is first in, first served basis and is $5 per vehicle.

When is the prize giving?
All prize giving will take place at the end of the event so that we can all celebrate your successes together.

Will we be able to buy food and drink at the event or shall we bring our own?
There will be a variety of local food trucks onsite, but if you want to bring your own you are more than welcome.

Are there toilets onsite?
Yes, there will be plenty of portaloos so you shouldn’t need to queue for too long.

How does Wairua Warrior / Nelson Obstacle Park support the community?
We are a not-for-profit and from the Wairua Warrior event we give back to the local Life Education Trust Charity, as per previous events.
We will also be supporting local community through opening the park for school groups, corporate and private bookings, as well as for local fundraising.

Is it just for competitors or can we bring a support crew to cheer us on?
We’d love you to bring your supporters to cheer you on. Stay a little longer to cheer others on to prior to the prize giving.

We welcome participants with disablities.
We are an inclusive event and welcome those with disabilities along with their support crew.
We have accessible toilets for the Wairua Warrior event.

My daughter is 5 and wants to be part of a team with her two older brothers.. Is that ok?
No, the minimum age of 6 needs to be strictly adhered to so that we can keep every one safe.

Can my toddler/small children play on the obstacles once the races are complete?
No, to ensure everyone’s safety no one is allowed on the obstacles after the races are completed.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR REGISTRATION TRANSFER
It is possible to transfer your registration to another person. To transfer your entry to another participant, follow these simple steps:
PART 1 - Original Entrant:
Log in to your event registration via the "ENTER HERE" button on our website.
Under "Registrations" on the "Summary" page, click on "Transfer".
Enter the email address of the person you are transferring your entry to.
Click the "Initiate Transfer" button.
A message will appear on the Summary page confirming the transfer is in progress.
Inform the new entrant immediately about initiating the transfer and ask them to check their email from EventPlus (in case it goes to spam or promotions folder).
Coordinate with the new entrant to arrange reimbursement for your entry. We will not reimburse you for your entry fee.
PART 2 - New Entrant:
Find the email from EventPlus regarding the entry transfer sent by the original entrant.
Click on the link in the email to access the EventPlus login screen.
Log in to your existing EventPlus account or create a new one using the same email address the offer of entry was sent to.
You will see a notification of the transfer.
Select the race you are transferring into and complete the registration process by filling in your entry form completely.
Remember to reimburse the original entrant for the race entry fee. We will not transfer the orginal entry fee.
Note: Please ensure prompt communication and follow-up with the new entrant to ensure a smooth transfer process.
